It’s been said that a photo is worth a thousand words.
In real estate photography, a photo can be worth $1,000.
Real Estate Agents are great at selling homes. That’s what they do. But when it comes to real estate photography, it’s proven that professional photographs help market the home much better. After all, would you have a listing agent shoot your family portrait?
Recent studies further show that houses with professional photography will sell for thousands more. Considering the money spent by home sellers on commissions, the cost of professional photographs is mind-numbingly miniscule. Listing Agents are doing more harm than good if they try and shoot the photos themselves.
The images captured by a professional are carefully constructed to allow for optimum exposure, contrast and overall quality. What’s more, since nearly every property showing started with somebody looking at a photo online, why not make the first impression as great as it can be?
The Wall Street Journal recently reported: “listings with nicer photos gain anywhere between $934 and $116,076.” Industry experts Redfin ran their own figures on the benefits of a professional photographer’s DSLR camera vs the point-and-shoot used by many Listing Agents.
According to Redfin, homes shot by a professional:
- Receive an average of 61% more views than peers across all price tiers;
- Have a 47% higher asking price per square foot;
- Have an increased likelihood of selling for houses priced above $300,000;
